About Me

I started my career as a social worker in Philadelphia, initially working with adults living with HIV/AIDS. After finishing graduate school at Temple University and receiving my Master of Social Work degree, I began working with children in the foster care system. Much of my professional career prior to becoming a therapist had been working with non-traditional families formed through foster care and adoption. Many of my current clients are teens or adults who were adopted, individuals or couples who have chosen to adopt, or first parents (biological parents) who chose adoption for a child. I also work with individuals who struggle to know and voice their needs in relationships, people who have experienced single event and/or chronic traumas, and people who want to challenge and shift from long held beliefs about themselves or others that prevent them from living fully.

Through therapy I strive to help people identify and celebrate what makes them unique and to find strength in their difference. My identity as a white, heterosexual, cisgender woman who is married and a stepparent plays a role in our work together. I’m also an animal lover who grew up on a farm. Some of my favorite things to do are walking for miles around the city or on a trail, getting lost in a good story, and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes. I share these things about myself so we can potentially explore how our social locations, experiences and interests impact our therapeutic relationship.

Philosophy

The therapeutic relationship is powerful and healing when you find a therapist with whom you connect. When you are ready, ask a lot of questions of potential therapists to ensure they have the specialization, approach, and personality that meets your needs. If you are struggling, you don’t have to go through it alone. Your therapist can help you identify and work towards achieving your specific goals.

My hope is that my clients leave our sessions feeling seen, heard, validated, supported, and challenged. I aim to create a safe environment where painful experiences and areas of guilt and shame can be processed without judgment. I also enjoy helping clients gain personal insight and explore aspects of themselves they are curious about.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania – License #CW019519.
